Volvo – Hack-Sprint Construction Climate Challenge

December 11, 2019

Last Sunday, December 7,  I was fortunate to judge The Hack-Sprint Construction Climate Challenge that was put on by the Volvo Group. It was impressive to see how the Volvo Group Construction Equipment Group is seeking creative solutions to reduce carbon impact from the equipment and processes they provide at the job sites and moving materials to and from the site (A4 and A5 for those in the field of life cycle assessment).  Silicon Valley based multidisciplinary teams competed for the $10,000 prize. We saw multiple innovative and creative new solutions to reduce CO2 impact in this as yet untouched phase of the construction process. Hats off to Volvo for reaching outside and investing in creative solutions for the future and the growing demand for low carbon construction!
